The Perth Mint is fully-owned and guaranteed by the Government of Western Australia. It produces some of the world's best selling bullion coins and bars, and is considered to be one of the largest LBMA accredited refiners in the world.
Koi fish are revered for their beauty, serenity, and symbolic significance. Synonymous with harmony and happiness, they are often associated with the yin yang symbol in feng shui, representing opposing, yet balancing forces said to govern the cosmos.
The coin portrays a yin yang symbol with black and polished teardrop-shaped halves, each featuring the image of a koi. The interdependence of the fish is represented by the seed of its rival in the form of a black freshwater pearl on the head of the polished koi, and a white freshwater pearl on the head of the black koi. Also included in the design is The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
