Platinum’s name is derived from the Spanish term "Platina del Pinto", which is literally translated into "little silver of the Pinto river". Platinum is one of the rarest elements found in the Earth's crust with annual production of around 30 metric tons (vs. ~2,500 tons for gold and ~ 23,000 tons for silver). Mining is very geographically concentrated as South Africa accounts for over 80% of the world production.
The 50 gram Argor-Heraeus minted platinum bars are of .9995 pure platinum and guaranteed by the Argor-Heraeus.
On the obverse face of the 50 gram platinum Argor-Heraeus Gold Bar, you’ll find the company logo. Below you’ll find the inscription, “Switzerland”, along with the bar’s weight, metal content, and purity, as well as the assayer’s mark at the bottom.
The reverse of each Argor-Heraeus gold bar features the Argor-Heraeus logo, set within a circle and stamped in a diagonal, repeating pattern across the face.
Each bar is shipped in protective packaging and enclosed in its original assay card for authenticity.
