Gold Coin Mexican Libertad 2013 - 1 oz

The Libertad is Mexico's treasure coin and is minted at Casa de Moneda de Mexico, the oldest mint in North America, founded in 1535 by royal decree. The coin was issued by the Spanish crown and carries the first Viceroy of New Spain, Antonio de Mendoza, creating the first mint in America. This mint produced the famous Spanish "Pieces of Eight" coins upon which the original United States Dollar, the Canadian Dollar, and the Chinese Yuan (introduced in 1889) were based.
