This vintage 1 kg gold cast bar was manufactured in Switzerland by Métaux Précieux SA Neuchâtel, the company now known as Metalor Technologies.
The refinery’s history dates to 1852. It became a subsidiary of Société de Banque Suisse in 1918 and was renamed Métaux Précieux SA in 1936. Its longstanding connection with Swiss banking and precious-metals refining is reflected in the historic markings found on these bars.
Each bar contains 1,000 grams of 999.9 fine gold. Depending on the production period, its surface may display the Métaux Précieux SA Neuchâtel name, Swiss Bank or SBS markings, fineness and an individual serial number.
As a vintage cast product, each bar may differ in appearance, markings and condition. Natural scratches, dents, patina and other signs of age may be present.
