The Singapore Mint Lunar Series 1 oz 9999 gold bullion coins were produced by The Singapore Mint as part of Singapore's commemorative pure gold Lunar coin programme. Each coin contains 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, with a standard weight of approximately 31.10 grams.

Established in 1968, The Singapore Mint was originally founded to produce circulation coins for the newly independent nation and has since expanded into the production of commemorative and collectible coins. Singapore's Lunar coin programmes celebrate the twelve animals of the traditional Chinese zodiac, with individual designs issued to commemorate the corresponding Lunar year.

The obverse features the Singapore Coat of Arms, together with the year of issue and the name Singapore represented in the country's four official languages – English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil. Depending on the year of issue, minor elements and inscriptions may vary.

The reverse features a stylised representation of the respective animal of the Chinese zodiac for that year. Issues from different series may feature designs inspired by traditional Chinese paper-cut art or other styles of Chinese art, accompanied by their corresponding Chinese zodiac characters, their SGD denomination and inscriptions identifying the coin's weight and .9999 fine gold purity.

Struck to a bullion finish, these coins feature detailed designs complemented by their respective fields and contrasting elements. Mintages vary according to the year of issue, with many of these gold coins produced in relatively limited quantities compared to sovereign coins of other nations.
